There is a lot of talk today about global warming, carbon footprints, and businesses 'going green.' In fact, in the opinion of many, energy consumption and environmental impact are among the most important issues presently facing society. These issues are particularly pertinent to IT for two reasons. First, IT consumes significant energy resources. IT organizations must therefore be fully engaged in any corporate effort to 'go green.'
