Brace yourself for a whole new round of WebSphere product names to memorize. There will be a test after you finish reading the story. Don't worry, it is pass-fail. READ MORE >

(IT Jungle) While we told you several weeks ago about some nifty software that IBM was rolling out to make mainframes easier to use and monitor, Big Blue didn't tell us in the briefing that many of these same capabilities are also being delivered in Tivoli products for the iSeries platform, which is Big Blue's other mainframe-style computer--albeit one that heralds from the cornfields of Minnesota rather than the rolling hills of the Hudson Valley. (Isham Research) The great thing about the mainframe market is that there are still lots of smart people around who can really pick apart an IBM announcement. Some, such as Phil Payne of Isham Research, do it with some flair. Check out Payne's latest ruminations on the System z9. READ MORE >
