A Java Developer's First Deployment on the iSeries
by Mike Brown
While I have over 26 years of development experience, I never had the opportunity to deploy an application on the iSeries until recently. So, right off the bat, let's be clear: I am not a Four Hundred Guru! Initially, the iSeries looked very different from the systems I've worked on in the past. However, as I learned, it can also look familiar. READ MORE >

The OS/400 PTF Guide Is Reborn as the System i PTF Guide
With this issue of Four Hundred Guru, the OS/400 PTF Guide, which we have provided links to for years, is reborn as the System i PTF Guide, and is now hosted directly on the IT Jungle site. Our many thanks to Doug Bidwell, the owner of iSeries business partner DLB Associates, for creating and freely distributing his PTF Guide for the past eight years. He's been doing it for love, not for money.
The System i PTF Guide provides the same information as the old one, it is just formatted a little differently to fit the IT Jungle style. If you click on the Back Issues button on the index page for the System i PTF Guide, you will see that IT Jungle is hosting all of the prior PTF Guides since the beginning of the year. If you need an earlier edition, let us know. READ MORE >
