SQL/400 SELECT statements use the column headings that are stored as part of the file description when displaying or printing data. Sometimes I prefer to see the field names themselves used as column headings. I have found one method to make SQL use field names as column headings, but I wonder if you know of a better one. Viewing and Printing the Euro Symbol

I recently needed to print the Euro symbol (€) on some of my spool files. I found that this was not a standard capability. My default system value for character identifier was set to 697 for the graphic character set and 037 for the code page. These settings are not Euro ready. Scanning QSYSOPR for Selected System Messages
Hey, Joe:
In your article "Bullet-Proofing User Profiles," you talk about scanning the QSYSOPR message queue. Is there a way to scan for selected system messages, such as failed sign-on attempts, or do you have to review your logs line by line? I suspect that I have a user who is deliberately disabling user profiles by typing in a garbage password three times in a row, but I can't prove this is happening. Do you have any ideas? READ MORE >
