Vendor Announcements, Promotions, and Deals
(IT Jungle) Expand Networks announced its largest bandwidth optimization device yet, a box for large data centers called the Expand ACCELERATOR. The ACCELERATOR handles 200 Mbps of raw bandwidth and supports 1,500 WAN nodes. Expand also has two new customers in the insurance business: one that bought nearly 3,500 acceleration devices for $5 million, and another that reports up to 7:1 compression on Lakeview's MIMIX network replication. (IT Jungle) GST announced the availability of its SAIT-1 tape drives and library, which uses Sony Electronics' Super Advanced Intelligent Tape (SAIT-1) technology. The SAIT-1 drives feature a compressed capacity of 1.3 TB (500 GB native), a 108 GB per hour native transfer rate, and "write once, read many" capability. READ MORE >

January 25-29 -- The 11th annual Lotusphere conference will be held at the Walt Disney Resort in Orlando, Florida.
