Stay-Linked Gains Support for SSH Encryption
Published: January 3, 2006
eBusiness Solution Pros (eSP) now supports the Secure Shell (SSH) security protocol as an option for customers who want to encrypt terminal emulation sessions between wireless devices and host servers, the company announced last week. Support for SSH within eSP's Stay-Linked wireless terminal emulation suite was a feature requested often by customers, says David Griffith, president and chief executive of the Orange County, California, company.
"Lately, we've been approached by a growing number of strategic end-user organizations that wish to eliminate Telnet from their environment completely," he says. "Having SSH-based terminal emulation now available as a supplied option within Stay-Linked allows them to immediately accomplish this goal." SSH support is a free, downloadable upgrade for Stay-Linked version 7 customers who are current with their maintenance. Stay-Linked provides 5250, 3270, and VT100/220 emulation, although the bulk of eSP's customers, who are primarily distributors running large warehouses, use OS/400 servers.
