Linoma Joins iManifest U.S. to Help Spread the i Word

Updated: January 5, 2010

Linoma Software became the latest System i software vendor to join iManifest U.S., the grass-roots initiative founded last year to promote the System i in the United States. With last month's pledge, Linoma joins close to 100 other companies around the world in the drive to spread the word about the System i platform.

Linoma joined iManifest to help shed more light on IBM i, says Bob Luebbe, chief software architect for the Ashland, Nebraska, software company.

"Any company that uses an IBM i understands its proven abilities, reliability, and speed," Luebbe says in press release. "I think the iManifest initiative is a great way to get more visibility to this awesome platform, which I have great respect for after personally working with it for over 20 years."

The iManifest movement started in mid-2008 in Japan when a group of companies there banded together to raise money to buy an advertisement to declare their commitment to the platform, which has gone by various names including AS/400, iSeries, System i, and Power Systems (the current name). IBM i is the name IBM gave to the i5/OS operating system on April 2, 2008.

Following the creation of a second iManifest group in Europe in July, Jeff Olen of Olen Business Consulting stepped forward in September to get the iManifest U.S. initiative going, creating the www.imanifest-us.com Web site.

So far, 10 companies have become members of iManifest U.S. In addition to Linoma and Olen's consulting business, BCD, DRV Technologies, LANSA, ProData Computer Services, Raz-Lee Security, New Generation Software, Quadrant Software and Xperia count themselves as iManifest U.S. participants.

The group has raised about $48,000 so far, according to the iManifest U.S. Web site. For more information or to join iManifest U.S., visit www.imanifest-us.com.
