Intentia Targets Windows with New ERP Bundle for Small Businesses

Published: January 10, 2006

If you work for a small company that's considering upgrading its accounting system, Intentia would like a moment of your time. Last month the Swedish ERP vendor unveiled a new offering that bundles an eServer i5 with its Movex application software. Called Intentia OneBox, the solution is designed to meet the needs of companies with up to 50 users.

Intentia is taking off the gloves and positioning OneBox directly against Microsoft Windows-based solutions, which the company implies are not as secure or reliable as OS/400-based solutions. "Written in Java, OneBox provides a reliable and virus-safe platform on which to run core business applications that will reduce the downtime and recovery that can cripple a small organization," says Lars Wettergren, product director of technology and platforms at Intentia. "Now smaller companies can benefit from this level of security combined with ERP capabilities that support some of the world's most demanding companies."

OneBox 1.0 includes an entry-level i5 server and various software components from Intentia, including the Java version of Movex 12.4, Movex Workplace, Movex Companion, and the Movex Information Engine. Intentia plans to add new functionality and proven solutions in OneBox version 2.0, the company says.
