Open Text Taps Attunity for Data Connectors

Published: January 12, 2010

by Alex Woodie

Open Text is the latest ISV to partner up with Attunity for its line of real-time data integration products. As a result of the deal, Open Text hopes to bolster its capability to help customers decommission their legacy content management applications and accelerate the adoption of Open Text's ECM suite.

Attunity specializes in developing real-time data integration software called change data capture (CDC) that supports DB2/400, IBM mainframes, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and other enterprise database platforms. The company claims that its log-based CDC technology has very little impact on the host, which gives it an advantage over other data integration vendors.

One Attunity customer, Atlantic Detroit Diesel Allison (Atlanta DDA), was left "very impressed" with Attunity's CDC software, when it was able to replicate more than 1TB of DB2/400 data in thousands of tables to an Oracle DB system "with ease." (See "Equipment Dealer Lauds Attunity for Speedy DB2/400 Replication" for more on that story.)

As part of the partnership with Open Text, Attunity will be providing its CDC technology to Open Text customers that are looking to move data from legacy content management solutions to Open Text's flagship ECM suite in real time. Others will use the software to create "real time data warehouses," while still others will use it for one-way migrations that are part of "legacy decommissioning" projects.
