Kingland OEMs MDM Technology from IBM

Published: January 12, 2010

Kingland Systems, a developer of financial services software for i OS and other platforms, is embedding IBM's Infosphere Master Data Management (MDM) software into 360 Data, its global database of legal entities, corporate hierarchies, and securities, the vendors announced last week.

Based in Clear Lake, Iowa, Kingland Systems provides an array of software and services to its customers, which are some of the biggest financial services firms in the country. The company's offerings include brokerage software, compliance and risk management services, data management services, and various other technical and hosting services.

Kingland is also a big IBM Power Systems shops, and in 2005 won an IBM Innovation Award for its implementation of Lakeview Technologies high availability software, which was used to replicate 40 million to 50 million transactions per day between primary and secondary systems, while maintaining five-nine reliability. In other words, these guys really know their stuff.

The OEM deal with IBM involves the InfoSphere Master Data Management Server, which Kingland plans to integrate into its 360 Data product line, including 360 Data Master File, a managed data solution that clients can access using a file or through Web services; and 360 Data Reference Desk, which provides on-demand data cleansing and validation functions commonly used for risk analysis and compliance functions.

As a result of the partnership, Kingland will launch a new financial product built on IBM's MDM technology called 360 Data Enterprise Hub that will provide financial institutions with industry-specific data domains, feed handlers, business process and data management workflows, user interfaces, and data maintenance and quality processes that are customizable.

Customization is a key element of Kingland's decision to select IBM for MDM, according to Dave Kingland, president and CEO of Kingland Systems. "Our years of experience have shown us that financial services enterprise data problems require customizing the solution to the precise needs of the client, so we chose to team with IBM, whose new MDM software products are built for customization and will enable us to solve our customers' problems much faster and more precisely," he states in a press release.
