Jinfonet recently unveiled JReport 7.2, a new release of its Java-based business intelligence solution for iSeries and other servers. New features with this release include a new one-click export functionality for Excel and PDF, which the company says enables fast and simple exporting of DHTML report, national language support, and better rendering of reports in the increasingly popular Firefox Web browser from Mozilla.
This release also improves the functionality of JReport in clustered environments through Jinfonet's new "RealPath" technology, which automatically replicates changes made to a report on one server to all of the servers in the cluster, thereby preventing developers from manually updating each server independently.
Jinfonet also made changes to the deployment options with this release by enabling users to embed JReport in existing J2EE applications. This capability is made possible through a new scripting technology in JReport 7.2 that generates the necessary Web Application Archive (WAR) or Enterprise Application Archive (EAR) files. Jinfonet says deploying JReport as an embedded Java application using the WAR or EAR files saves customers time by automating much of the initial integration and ongoing maintenance work.
