Cape Systems last week unveiled a new release of PicRite, a Windows program for use in warehouse picking environments. Cape Systems, which is based in New Jersey, says benefits of using PicRite include elimination of paper pick sheets, and greater picking efficiency due to the way that a centralized PicRite workstation, in tandem with multiple Bay Information Displays (BIDs) mounted around the warehouse, can guide a picker to all of the correct locations in a warehouse to fulfill an order, in all types of flow rack, shelving, and pallet rack picking applications.
With PicRite 4.0, the company has been working on interoperability. The new release features support for Windows XP (nobody ever said warehouses had to use cutting-edge technology), as well as new interfaces to ERP systems, including those from Oracle and SAP, and practically any host system running on OS/400, Unix, Linux, and Windows operating systems. PicRite makes a suitable replacement picking solution, says David Sasson, the company's COO and CTO. "This is an elegant solution for companies with legacy based systems that need to port their picking function on to the latest platforms," he said.
