Infinite Software Updates Web App

Published: January 22, 2008

by Alex Woodie

Infinite Software (formerly California Software) last week unveiled a new release of Infinite Web, a set of tools for moving i5/OS applications to the Web. With Infinite Web 5.0, the company now allows customers to mix and match the deployment of modernized applications across Java and .NET run-time environments.

As a component of Infinite Software's Infinite iSeries suite, Infinite Web provides a set of tools designed to help customers modernize their traditional i5/OS green-screen business applications by providing them with Web-based graphical interfaces. At the same time, the tool aims to help improve integration with other applications by employing service oriented architecture (SOA) techniques.

While previous releases of Infinite Web supported both Java and .NET development and runtime camps, users were required to choose one set of development tools or the other, a decision that also reflected which runtime they were required to use.

Now, with Infinite Web 5.0, users' applications have more freedom while on deployment.

"In the past, we have provided single platform applications with the ability to deploy across the most popular platforms in the market," said Bruce Acacio, CEO of Infinite Software, which now lists Laguna Niguel as its headquarters. "This version of Infinite Web can be deployed on either .NET or Java and breaks the tradition of having to choose which deployment environment you must use based on the toolset chosen."

Infinite Web 5.0 is available now. Pricing was not disclosed. For more information or free trials, visit www.infinitewebsuite.com.
