iSeries systems management vendor CCSS says business was good in 2005, and expects it to remain good through 2006. Ray Wright, managing director of the English software house, attributes some of the growing interest in CCSS software to IBM's "Try and Buy" program, in which trial copies of QSystem Monitor and QMessage Monitor are included on a CD with every new iSeries sold by IBM and every upgrade to V5R3. Other factors cited by Wright include a heightened interest in automation and several marketing campaigns in Europe and North America. "All these factors, plus the palpable upswing in the iSeries marketplace, lead me to anticipate continued growth of our customer base in 2006," Wright says.
Some of the new customers include American Eagle Outfitters, a Pittsburgh-based chain that operates 800 clothing stores in the U.S. and Canada. The company purchased CCSS' QMessage Monitor and QRemote Control products. Another new customer in 2005 was the Bahamas Telecommunications Company, which purchased QMessage Monitor to get a better hold on messages generated by their iSeries system.
CCSS also reported several new European customers, including the Getinge Group, a Swedish company that serves the market for infection control, medical systems, and extended care; the Nationwide Building Society, the UK's fourth largest mortgage lender; and RWE npower, which provides gas and electricity to 6 million people in the UK.
