iSeries Plays a Central Role in MoMA's Expansion

A lot of things were different when the Museum of Modern Art reopened its doors in midtown Manhattan last November after, following a two-and-a-half year, $425-million renovation. First, there is MoMA's new building, an architectural gem in itself, in addition to new exhibits and educational facilities. The museum's IT systems have also seen a bit of an overhaul, but one thing that hasn't changed is the iSeries' role in running MoMA's back-office applications. CXL Debuts iSeries Security Reporting Tool

English developer CXL unveiled a new software utility this month called AZScan that tells users how security settings have been configured on their OS/400, Unix, or OpenVMS midrange systems. Brooks Launches ExcelliPrint for IPDS Conversion

Brooks Internet Software has developed a new software product that enables regular Windows printers to replace IPDS printers in OS/400 and mainframe environments. By converting IPDS print datastreams into PDF or PCL format, ExcelliPrint enables less expensive Windows printers to stand in for their pricier IPDS printing brethren, while simultaneously preserving the advantages of IBM's AFP architecture, such as support for graphics, barcodes, and bidirectional communication, the company says.
