Kisco Information Systems has added support for 128-bit encryption to its WebReport/400 utility, the company announced last week. With WebReport/400 version 8.05, WebReport/400 users gain the option of encrypting the PDF documents that the product generates from iSeries spool files.
This release expands WebReport/400's existing security capabilities, which included password protection and restrictions on modifying PDF documents. Kisco boosted the product's security in November with the release of WebReport/400 8.0, which added things like the capability to monitor who is accessing reports (see "Kisco Boosts Security in WebReport/400"). The company had previously offered some support for encryption with WebReport/400.
Other improvements include with this release include support for conversion of *USERASCII spool files into PDF documents, improved controls over recipient identification, and better formatting options when including a list of destination e-mail addresses in the body of the email text, the company says. The basic version of WebReport/400 costs $1,195 per server, while WebReport/400 PDF, which adds PDF conversion capabilities, FTP support, and support for AFPDS overlays, costs $1,795 per server.
