Whenever IBM sits down to revamp the iSeries product line, it has a number of different factors it needs to weigh against each other. With the iSeries in particular--which is now called the System i5, by the way--Big Blue wants to create a relatively simple line of machines that employ sophisticated technology. It wants to make them competitive, but also because of the sophistication, it wants something it can charge a premium for. Features Galore Inside i5/OS V5R4

As we have all been anticipating, the latest iteration of the OS/400 platform, i5/OS Version 5 Release 4, makes its debut today, and will begin shipping on February 14 with the new System i5 Power5+ servers that IBM also announced today. IT Jungle has been previewing many of the features of i5/OS V5R4, so some of this will be familiar to you. nuBridges Targets Identity Theft with New Solution

nuBridges this month announced truExchange Data Secure, a new software and services offering that provides field- and file-level encryption of data residing on iSeries servers. Data Secure is aimed squarely at preventing the type of accidental loss of customer data that leads to identity theft, which is becoming increasingly difficult for companies to stomach as a result of new state and federal laws, as well as consumer lawsuits and financial punishment enacted by shareholders. Teamstudio Locks Down Notes-Domino Systems
