New DYS Analytics Tool Restricts Outbound E-Mails and IMs

Published: February 7, 2006

At the recent Lotusphere conference, DYS Analytics unveiled a new product called CONTROL! Guardian that's designed to help Domino and Exchange shops tighten control over their outbound e-mail and instant messaging (IM) environments. CONTROL! Guardian enforces e-mail and IM rules by stopping noncompliant message traffic before it is sent, the Massachusetts software company says.

Stopping some messages before they're sent benefits users in several ways, including reducing e-mail and IM "overload," minimizing the loss of intellectual property, and preventing the tarnishing of the organizational image. What's more, organizations benefit when bandwidth and work hours are used in the most productive ways.

The product works by analyzing the content of the messages, and by enforcing policies on e-mail and IMs, such as attachment size. For example, DYS Analytics says experience shows that e-mails with medium-size attachments--between 500 KB and 5 MB--pose far more significant impact than large e-mails, over 10MB in size.

"CONTROL! Guardian provides detailed message envelope and content inspection features ensuring only appropriate message traffic crosses the organizational network," says Stefan Mehlhorn, CEO of DYS Analytics. "Guardian applies DYS' proven approach to email and IM traffic management so IT can restore the messaging infrastructure to its high-performance capacity."

CONTROL! Guardian will be available in March.
