McLeod Touts Big Jump in Sales of Trucking Software

Published: February 8, 2011

by Alex Woodie

McLeod Software, which develops IBM i-based applications used by trucking companies, recently announced that it recorded a 56 percent increase in revenues for 2010 compared to the previous year. The Alabama-based company says its customers are realizing higher operational efficiencies as a result of its software.

Tom McLeod, the president and CEO of McLeod Software, says he is seeing strong growth in IT investments with his customers in the transportation industry. "2010 was a much better year overall for freight transportation," he states. "Every category of product and every type of customer segment we measure generated double-digit growth for our 2010 fiscal year."

McLeod says his customers are becoming more efficient as the result of their IT investments. "Several of our customers have told us that the savings and efficiencies they gained in the last two years with their new information systems capabilities made the difference between operating with a profit instead of a loss in their fiscal year," he says. "Well-managed companies are continuing to improve their operations with better systems."

Like other trucking software developers, McLeod targets the IBM i platform with its suite of products, which includes dispatch management, brokerage, business process automation, document management, and imaging software. It develops in J2EE, which allows its software to run on other platforms as well. The company--which was founded in 1985 and is headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama--claims more than 400 customers in the United States with its flagship LoadMaster software.
