dcLINK 6 Delivers Warehouse KPIs to Smartphones

Published: February 9, 2010

by Alex Woodie

Warehouse managers and salesmen will be able to check on inventory levels and other key pieces of information from the mobile comfort of their smartphones with the latest release of dcLINK from Data Systems International (DSI).

dcLINK is a Windows-based product that serves multiple functions in distribution center environments. Workers who wear coveralls on the warehouse floor will use dcLINK anytime they have a connection between their data collection devices (barcode scanners, RFID scanners, voice-prompted picking solutions) to ERP or warehouse management systems. Workers who wear suits on the company's top floor will use dcLINK to generate reports that track warehouse activities, such as shipping and inventory levels.

With dcLINK version 6, DSI is now delivering reports and key performance indicators (KPIs) through a secured Web browser, thereby enabling participants to access the information from any device that supports a full Web browser, such as Apple's "somewhat popular" smart phone, called the iPhone, and others.

"Managers, salespeople, and other business professionals no longer have to make decisions based on yesterday's reports, and no longer have to track down operations staff for status updates," says Alec Caldwell, product manager for the Overland Park, Kansas, company. "With dcLINK 6, up-to-date, accurate performance indicators about inventory levels, work-in-process, delivery status, and other essential business information are as close as their smartphone."

DSI works with many ERP vendors to gain certification for its products, including Oracle's JD Edwards EntepriseOne, JD Edwards World, PeopleSoft Enterprise, and E-Business Suite; Infor ERP LX (BPCS); Lawson Software M3 (Movex); and SAP. For more information, see the company's Web site at www.dsionline.com.
