S4i Taps Tallega for Information Capture

Published: February 19, 2008

by Alex Woodie

i5/OS document management software developer S4i Systems has formed a partnership with Tallega Software, which resells and implements scanners, imaging, and content management solutions, the companies announced recently.

S4i Systems helps System i shops modernize their forms and documents with S4i Express, its main offering. This document management system monitors System i print queues, processes the output with segmenting or bundling rules, converts it into PostScript, PDF, HTML, RTF, CSV, or plain text format, and then distributes it electronically (via e-mail, fax, FTP, or the Web), prints it, or archives it.

Thanks to its new deal with Tallega, S4i Systems will be able to offer its customers additional capabilities related to the capture and manipulation of forms, documents, and information in a business environment. Specifically, the partnership will seek to leverage the alliances that Tallega has with providers of scanners, information capture solutions, optical character recognition (OCR) devices, and content management and workflow systems, including Kofax, Fujitsu, Captiva, IBM-Filenet, OpenText, and Ricoh.

Tallega Software's experience implementing these imaging systems attracted S4i Systems to the company, states Susanne States, director of marketing for S4i Systems. "Content management solutions need to be tailored to fit the client and Tallega doesn't just ship software to new clients and call it a day. Instead, they spend time meticulously analyzing a company’s unique business requirements and applying technology that really fits," she says.

For its part, Tallega Software has been looking for a company like S4i to partner with for some time, states David Gerber, Tallega's president and co-founder. "They have made an impressive commitment to the System i marketplace and have been spending a lot of time enhancing the functionality and value of their products," Gerber says.
