IBM last week unveiled DB2 Content Manager OnDemand for iSeries 5.4, an OS/400-based application that provides high-volume capture of computer output and archiving of scanned documents, in addition to the capability to search and retrieve documents from Web and Windows interfaces, and to manage the lifecycle of the documents as they move from disk to optical to magnetic media.
With DB2 Content Manager OnDemand for iSeries 5.4, IBM is entering the last phase of its transition to the Common Server environment, and as such, this is the last release of the product that will support OS/400's Spool File Archive (SFA), AnyStore, Record Archive (RA), and Object Archive (OA) environments, IBM says. IBM began the transition from its legacy OnDemand server with version 5.1, which introduced the Common Server environment.
To help customers during the move, this release includes an SFA migration utility to migrate report definitions and indexes from the legacy SFA environment to the OnDemand Common Server environment. New installations and new applications of DB2 Content Manager OnDemand should be deployed using the Common Server environment, the company says.
Several other minor changes have been made. First, IBM is including the OnDemand Web Enablement Kit (ODWEK) with the base entitlement for DB2 Content Manager OnDemand. This release also supports the new OS/400 V5R4. For more information, see IBM Software Announcement 206-030.
