The Avantis business unit of Invensys recently unveiled Avantis.XA version 3.3, a new release of its OS/400-based asset management system that went by the name Marcam in a former life. With Avantis.XA 3.3, the company has developed an interface to Microsoft Project, a Windows-based product that helps managers and planners manage schedules and maximize resources.
Despite the Windows bent of the last couple releases of Avantis.XA, the company maintains its allegiances lie with the loyal AS/400 base. "These latest Avantis.XA software enhancements for IBM's solid AS/400 hardware suite evolved out of specific inputs from our many loyal Avantis.XA users around the world, who continue to include the product in their strategic plans," says Neil Cooper, general manager of the Avantis unit of the Invensys Process Systems unit of Invensys.
