Agilysys Updates Content Management System

iSeries distributor Agilysys last week unveiled a new release of DataMagine, its Windows-based electronic content management offering for eliminating paper output from servers. With version 6.2, the product gains iSeries spool file support, as well as support for double byte character sets (DBCS), which enables it to work with Chinese and Japanese languages.
Agilysys bills DataMagine as an industrial document management system, or DMS, that works with all types of computer systems. The software includes elements normally associated with content management--such as document scanning, indexing, and archiving capabilities--along with the capability to distribute electronic documents via e-mail, fax, the Web, or by printing out a hard copy.
DataMagine version 6.2 brings changes to the report archive module, namely support for iSeries spool file output, which makes the product much more relevant to Agilisys' downstream resellers and iSeries users. Other improvements to this module include the capability to monitor multiple host servers, support for spool files using the Chinese Traditional DBCS, and a new "daily e-mail progress report" feature for distributing documents to key users on a regular basis.
Version 6.2 also brings a new Web scan and index module that eliminates the need to install a full Windows client to scan documents into the DataMagine system. The new Web interface allows users to scan documents individually or in batches, lets them print and e-mail documents, and also includes the capability to add an electronic stamp or annotation onto the scanned files.
The new release also includes a document workflow module, called Docflow that provides a system for routing business processes and their accompanying documents to various users for their approval. With version 6.2, this module receives more advanced job management features, including the capability to filter jobs by name, by business process templates, by inbox, by job creation date, or by job status.
