BOSaNOVA unveiled its new 550 series of thin clients last week, including three devices powered by 533 MHz Via Technologies processors running your choice of the embedded version of Windows XP, CE.net, or Linux.
Designed to replace its 400 series of thin clients, BOSaNOVA's new XTC-550, LTC-550, and WTC-550 thin clients deliver a 40 percent increase in processor speed for the same price as those earlier devices, as well as twice the storage, which is delivered via ROM. "Whether you are looking for a high-end XPe [thin client] or a green-screen terminal replacement, we have the thin clients to meet your needs," said Martin Pladgeman, president of BOSaNOVA.
The new 550 Series includes a full complement of connectivity options, including three USB 2.0 ports, a 4x AGP video card, and an optional smart card. BOSaNOVA thin clients also come with 5250 and 3270 emulators, Unix emulators, support for Windows and Citrix emulation, and a modest pack of productivity apps, including Web browser, e-mail software, and document readers.
