American Software Unveils New Document Management Software

Published: March 7, 2006

OS/400 ERP developer American Software recently unveiled a new document management system for its iSeries- and zSeries based products called the American Software Integrated Document Management, or asIrecall.

asIrecall helps American Software customers by allowing users to view, print, e-mail, fax, and archive purchase orders, invoices, reports, and other documents, in practically any format, with the press of a function key or by using subfile options. The software also supports optical character recognition (OCR) and document workflow processes, and enables users to search for and retrieve documents electronically instead of requiring a person to search through paper files.

The software, which was rolled out in late 2005, was developed by Max Recall, a company specializing in document management software that, like American Software, is based in Atlanta. One of the first customers to license the new product was A.O. Smith Water Products Company, a manufacturer and marketer of residential and commercial water heaters and hydronic boilers, American Software announced yesterday as part of its third quarter results.

American Software, which owns almost 90 percent of Logility, did well last year, with total revenue coming in at just a hair over $56 million. "Our 32 percent increase in license fees and 25 percent growth in maintenance revenues, compared to the same quarter a year ago, underscore American Software's commitment to deliver innovative solutions that provide our customers with faster access to better information," says James Edenfield, president and CEO of the company
