Infor Customer Chooses to Adapt Rather Than Rip and Replace

Published: March 7, 2006

Ampro Computers, a San Jose, California, manufacturer of custom computer parts, has relied on its Infor XA (formerly MAPICS) ERP software for five years. However, executives with the company didn't believe they were getting all they could out of the ERP system, especially in the area of management metrics, warranty activity, reporting tools for the finance department, and integration with other products. That changed when the company decided to implement Manufacturing Essentials for Electronics, an add-on suite of business intelligence tools from Infor.

Following the implementation of Manufacturing Essentials for Electronics by Infor's partner, DKM of Los Angeles, Ampro Computers realized a considerable improvement in usability. The company benefited from new business intelligence metrics that allows executives to manage the company more proactively, a new report-writing system, improved management of warranty and field service activities, and a new integration platform for all their Infor XA data.

"I am very pleased we decided to invest in the newer features available from Infor, rather than implementing a different solution altogether," said Lloyd Degnon, Ampro's information services manager. "The new Java-based features continue to evolve into a more feature-rich, robust set of tools. They will allow us to work quicker, smarter and faster than our competitors."
