eBusiness Solution Pros, developer of emulation software for barcode scanners and other wireless devices, announced the formation last week of a technology alliance with Odyssey Software, which makes software for provisioning and managing wireless devices.
By linking eSP's Stay-Linked emulation software and Odyssey's Athena Device Management Suite, administrators will be able to use the same console to manage wireless terminal devices and configuring and controlling terminal emulation behavior.
"Many of our resellers' customers use wireless mobile handheld terminal devices from a mix of manufacturers--Symbol, Intermec, Hand Held Products, PSC, LXE, AML, and others--so having this type of integrated functionality available as a standard for all the devices will be very well received," says Mike Pagini, eSP's vice president of sales and marketing.
Tom Robinson, Odyssey Software's executive vice president, sales and marketing, explains how the workflow will occur: "Utilizing the Stay-Linked Administrator console this way, one simply right-clicks on the desired session, and the Athena device management interface pops up automatically using the TCP/IP address of the device being used as its target," he says. "Stay-Linked maintains the intelligence as to the specific device being used for each user's host-based terminal emulation session."
While there will be integration points between the two products, the two companies will continue to separately develop and sell their software. They will, however, market the combined solution as a single stack.
