Rimini Street Now Offering JD Edwards CNC Services

Rimini Street is expanding the breadth of services it offers in support of customers' JD Edwards environments. The company this month announced the general availability of its CNC Managed Services offering, in which it will provide full support for its JD Edwards customers' Configurable Network Computing environments.

CNC is the JDE EnterpriseOne network architecture, and is important for many aspects of EnterpriseOne ERP implementations. Rimini says it began providing CNC-related services in 2011, but it wasn't until this month that the company announced the general availability of the new service.

Rimini will focus on five areas of CNC support. Under system administration, Rimini will maintain user profiles, security, and printer and job queues. It will provide development services, including creation of package builds, deployments, and support for object management workbench (OMW). Its tech support offerings include maintenance of the CNC environment and upgrades of related technologies and tools. It will provide system monitoring, performance optimization, log clean-up, health checks, and data purges. Finally, it also provides reporting services to ensure compliance with regulations such as SOX and FDA requirements.

The company's new CNC services are separate from its EnterpriseOne application support services. However, customers that subscribe to both Rimini's CNC support offering as well as its application support will see additional benefits not seen by customers who have a standalone CNC service subscription, including better system availability, scalability, and business continuity, the company claims.

Rimini competes with general IT consultancies to provide CNC services to JD Edwards clients. The company, which claims its JD Edwards engineers have an average of 10 years of experience with the system, says the fact that it doesn't offer general JDE consulting services is a benefit to customers.

"Clients want a better option than the traditional CNC services provided by consulting firms and have been asking Rimini Street for a CNC Managed Services offering that mirrors the value and service level of our annual support program," Rimini's vice president of JD Edwards support services Ray Grigsby says in a press release. The new CNC offering "is specifically designed to fit the unique needs of our clients and ensure optimized JD Edwards system performance, while significantly reducing cost and risk."

Rimini also competes with Oracle to provide CNC services to JDE shops. Rimini is currently in a lawsuit with Oracle over the support services that Rimini offers to a variety of Oracle's customers. In addition to JD Edwards, Rimini provides support services for Oracle's PeopleSoft, EBusiness Suite, Siebel, and database products.

Rimini also supports SAP's products, but so far it's avoided legal problems with the German software giant, which has its own lawsuit with Oracle regarding TomorrowNow, the now-defunct support business that SAP bought. Seth Ravin founded TomorrowNow before selling it to SAP and starting Rimini Street in 2005.
