'BI for the Warehouse Guy' Unveiled by ICS and Q4bis

You may have heard of the hit TV show "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy." Now get ready for the business IT version, called "BI for the Warehouse Guy," a new collection of business intelligence (BI) software, from Q4bis and ICS--designed for persons of the warehouse persuasion.

The stereotypical BI user is somebody who sits in a nice chair, wears a suit, and crunches sales and financial numbers all day long. However, contrary to popular opinion, BI software can also be utilized in a warehouse environment by people who wear hard hats and drive fork lifts, according to Q4bis and ICS, which develop Windows-based business intelligence software and radio frequency (RF) solutions for J.D. Edwards environments, respectively.

That's not to say that warehouse managers will use "BI for the Warehouse Guy" to calculate the probability of profitability of cases of Schlitz in southern North Dakota during the month of February. More exactly, the solution is intended to show who in the warehouse is working hard, and who is hardly working.

"In a distribution environment, the ability to slice and dice RF-SMART transaction data can play a critical role in increasing a company's overall efficiency," said Jeff Hope, ERP manager for medical device manufacturer DJO, a J.D. Edwards shop based in Vista, California. "Analyzing your data with these out-of-the-box views can help you learn where you have productivity issues and determine where to make necessary adjustments."

"BI for the Warehouse Guy," which goes by the official the name RF-SMART Warehouse Intelligence Module powered by Q4bis, was unveiled at ICS' global user conference in Jacksonville, Florida, on Wednesday.
