IT organizations looking for a source code search and analysis tool to speed the redevelopment or maintenance of their legacy OS/400 and mainframe applications may want to check out Smart TS XL from IN-COM Data Systems.
Smart TS XL is designed to save programmers time by helping to identify code relationships and for finding specific lines of codes and changes made to programs. The software lets users follow program calls and references, traces related elements, and keeps detailed statistics on what it finds. The software, which the Dallas company bills as a "Google-like" search tool for mainframe and OS/400 servers, runs on the Microsoft Windows Server stack, including Windows 2000 or 2003 servers, SQL Server, and IIS. Users interact with the tool through a browser interface.
IN-COM recently unveiled a new release of SMART TS XL, version 7.1.6, which brought improvements in the "follow me" searching capability, an improved interface, greater functionality for "complexity" reports, and new zoom and highlighting features. This release also brought a plug-in for Internet Explorer. Free 30-day trials of the software are available at www.in-com.com.
