OS/400 shops can feel comfortable deploying Magic Software's development and integration tools with their new iSeries environments. Magic worked with IBM to conduct "rigorous testing" of eDeveloper and iBolt with beta and general release copies of OS/400 V5R4, and the testing shows that the software is ready for the new operating system, Magic says.
iBolt and eDeveloper are Magic's enterprise application integration (EAI) and fourth-generation language (4GL) development tools designed for use primarily in OS/400 and Windows environments. The products, which have achieved the IBM ServerProven certification in the past, are useful in application modernization initiatives, where users need to expose business processes from one system to another, or to repurpose legacy assets as Web services.
Every new System i5 coming out of Rochester will contain a copy of iBolt and eDeveloper in the "Try and Buy" CD-ROM that IBM includes in the deliveries. This trial software program was made available to Magic Software and other ISVs who participate in System i Tools Innovation Network.
The iBolt and eDeveloper products provide capabilities that are complementary to the iSeries, says Avigdor Luttinger, Magic's vice president of marketing and corporate strategy. "As IBM continues to enhance and improve its i5 Server product, Magic continues to align its offering and add value to this extraordinary application platform," he says.
