Australian Importer Standardizes on Lawson M3

Monza Imports, an Australian company that distributes motorcycle and bicycle clothing and accessories to retail stores in Australia, has adopted Lawson Software's QuickStep Fashion, a preconfigured version of its M3 ERP system, to manage its operations, the software company announced last week.

If you're a bicycle or motorcycle rider in Australia, and you go into a store and buy Rock Shox forks, Dunlop tires, or Oakley sunglasses, chances are good that Monza Imports brought the goods into the country, stored them in its warehouse, and then delivered them to the store.

The Melbourne-based company has been growing quickly lately, especially the bicycle division, as it reacts to the growing popularity of mountain biking in Australia. But Monza's 20-year-old legacy computer system was not keeping up with the demands of the distributor, which manages 50,000 SKUs, 43 industry brands, and 2,500 retail customers.

Monza decided to upgrade its system, and eventually chose Lawson's QuickStep Fashion, a preconfigured version of M3 that is most often deployed on IBM's Power Systems hardware.

QuickStep Fashion incorporates finance, sales, procurement, warehousing, and distribution functionality. Monza also licensed Lawson's integrated e-Sales system, including the mobility function, and will also use the software company's Business Intelligence product to better gauge its business performance.

Monza Imports managing director John Chiodo explained his company's decision. "We are committed to providing excellence in customer service in all aspects of our business," he says. "To maintain this standard now and into the future, we needed to upgrade our ERP system to one that is already proven in the industry and able to cope with the complex and intense demands of our business."
