Trubiquity Updates Data Exchange Product for OFTP2

Trubiquity last week unveiled a new version of TRUeurex-c, its managed file exchange offering for exchanging EDI and other forms of business communication. With TRUeurex-c 3.0, the company has added support for OFTP2, a version of the FTP protocol that is being adopted in Europe.

Trubiquity was founded in 2008 following a series of acquisitions orchestrated by Autoweb (the organization's previous name), including Datranet, Trinary Systems, Secorex Group, and parts of Mosaic Software. Trubiquity is headquartered in Rochester Hills, Michigan, and has four offices in the UK and Germany.

The company says TRUeurex-c provides a single EDI and B2B exchange solution that runs equally as well on Windows and Linux as it does on i/OS systems. The software, which Trubiquity claims is used by 2,000 customers around the world, builds on the company's other EDI and B2B offerings with the addition of a "clearing center" component that routes incoming messages directly to external partners. It is also designed to handle engineering documents, such as CAD drawings, in addition to EDI documents such as EDIFACT.

With version 3, the company is touting its certification for OFTP2, which is the latest release of a communication protocol sponsored by Odette, an organization dedicated to EDI in the European automotive marketplace.

Large European carmakers, such as Volkswagen and Daimler are beginning to adopt OFTP2, which makes it important for software suppliers like Trubiquity to support it. According to Trubiquity, OFTP2 provides a number of enhancements over other file transfer protocols, including stronger security, faster performance, better handling of large CAD files, and improved re-start mechanisms.
