Oracle Delivers Desktop Analytic Solution for JD Edwards

Published: May 20, 2008

by Alex Woodie

One of the challenges in large organizations is getting the right data in front of the right set of users. Sorting through the data and assessing its importance and its role to the organization is no easy task. But it is something Oracle addressed last week when it launched a new application, called JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Financial Management and Compliance Console, that's designed to present financial- and compliance-related data to JD Edwards EnterpriseOne users, and give them some analytical capabilities as well.

The new application provides EnterpriseOne users with role-based access to data housed in the ERP system. It includes a total of 47 pre-defined metrics, allowing users to receive tailored views of the organization's performance across a number of departments, including general accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, financial ratios, and corporate governance.

Compliance alerts are also included with the new application. The system will monitor changes made to critical system settings, such as credit limits and expense management policies. It will also ring up an alert when segregation of duty conflicts arise.

Oracle designed the Financial Management and Compliance Console using traditional EnterpriseOne tools, the company says, and it can be extended by customers or business partners using the ERP's standard toolset.

Third-party software vendors will be able to adapt Financial Management and Compliance Console to suit their customers' particular needs. For example, Q Software Global, a developer of security and compliance tools for World and EnterpriseOne shops, plans to add security and compliance feeds into Oracle's new console.

"This is a natural extension," says Mike Ward, managing director of Q Software. "We are well advanced in developing the core technologies required for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne compliance-data extraction and reporting. Once ready, we will extend this to provide the necessary interface for the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Financial Management Compliance Console."

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Financial Management and Compliance Console is available now, and supports JD Edwards EnterpriseOne versions 8.11 SP1 and 8.12. For more information, visit www.oracle.com.
