Integrated Print Solutions recently launched a new version of OnePrint G2 for Windows, a software product that enables iSeries and zSeries shops to print AFP documents on standard Windows-attached printers over IP networks.
With OnePrint G2 for Windows 3.0, the Texas company has added several new features and capabilities, including a new management module that boosts security by enabling administrators to assign different security levels to operators, thereby allowing them to track who made changes to the print server, and what changes they made.
The new release also boasts improved error recovery, which allows the host to receive real-time status messages from downstream printers. This is an important feature for any product that takes AFP documents out of their native element, as one of the benefits of the AFP and IPDS architecture is its error-recovery capability
OnePrint G2 for Windows also gains a new transaction accounting module that allows users to allocate printing costs to users, and a new GUI that should make the product more user friendly.
The new release should save users money says Julian Leibowitz, president of IPS. "Printing host-generated AFP documents on distributed ASCII printers is one way that companies can reduce costs--both capital and operational--while improving productivity throughout the enterprise," he says.
IPS launched the first released of OnePrint G2 for Windows about a year ago (see "IPS Eases IPDS Printing with OnePrint G2 for Windows"). The company offers several other AFP conversion products.
OnePrint G2 for Windows 3.0 is available now. Software licenses start at $800. For more information and free downloads, see www.ipslc.com.
