Data Storage Signs Partner Deal with Maximus

Published: June 26, 2012

by Alex Woodie

Data Storage Corp. last week announced that Maximus Data, an IT service provider based in Boston, will sell its line of backup and recovery solutions for the IBM i server, including the SafeData Cloud, to customers in the Northeast.

Data Storage, which acquired SafeData in 2010, provides several IBM i data protection services, including SafeData/Vault, which is based on Asigra's agentless disk-to-disk backup technology; SafeData/HA, which provides logical replication of IBM i objects and data from the customer's production server to a backup server; SafeData/DR, where Data Storage provides IBM i capacity and services to assist customers with a recovery; and SafeData/VDR, a virtualized version of SafeData/DR. Many of these solutions make use of the vendor's various Power Systems and Windows servers, which it collectively calls the SafeData Cloud, or SC.

Now Maximus will be representing Data Storage and selling these SafeData offerings to its customers and prospects in the Northeast. Maximus provides expertise in IBM i and X64 environments, with a particular focus on virtualization, data management, online backups, email management, and cloud hosting and co-location services. According to its website, Maximus maintains customer environments running in its partner's state of the art SAS70 Type II data center.

Maximus president Brian Baker says the partnership with Data Storage will benefit the companies' ability to service IBM i clients. "Data Storage Corporation has built its business by delivering data protection and business continuity solutions designed for the unique needs of small to mid-sized businesses with a particular focus on IBM iSeries environments," Baker says in a press release. "That is why we are so excited to partner with them and to begin offering an even greater array of expertise and top-notch services to our IBM iSeries customers throughout the New England area."
