NetManage last week unveiled a new release of RUMBA FTP, its graphical file transfer utility for securely transmitting files among iSeries, Unix, mainframe, and Windows hosts. With RUMBA FTP version 4.2, the company has enhanced its scripting, improved the user interface, and added support for additional file types.
The new OLE scripting features in RUMBA FTP 4.2 will help users automate repetitive transfers by consolidating multiple and individual transfers into a single macro script that executes several transfers at once. Similarly, the GUI enhancements will enable users to open multiple remote sessions simultaneously, as well as create, edit, launch, and disconnect sessions in a single panel. This release also brings drag-and-drop file transfers through the GUI.
RUMBA FTP 4.2 also brings support for additional System i and MVS server modes, the company says. This includes the capability to list and view OS/400-Unix file listing format, the OS/400 with IFS-Unix file listing format, and MVS in "directory mode," NetManage says.
