StreamServe Converts Movex Data Into Excel
Corrected: July 13, 2006
by Alex Woodie
Companies that rely on the Movex ERP suite developed by Intentia (and now owned by Lawson Software) may be interested in a new reporting tool unveiled last month by StreamServe. Called StreamServe MS Excel for Movex, the software is designed to make it easy for Movex users to extract data from their ERP system, transform it into Excel format, and then distribute the resulting spreadsheets via the Web, e-mail, print, and even fax.
Every company needs their data in Excel format so it can be better manipulated, according to StreamServe, but not every company has the manpower necessary to do the manual conversions. With StreamServe MS Excel for Movex, the Burlington, Massachusetts, software company says it can automate this process, and maybe even eliminate the need for an expensive business intelligence solution along the way.
"This product gives organizations the opportunity to transform its financial reporting from a necessary evil into an effective and beneficial part of its enterprise document presentment strategy," says Chris Stone, president and CEO of StreamServe.
StreamServe runs on all "major" operating systems, StreamServe says, (except OS/400). However, it does support Movex implementations on the OS/400 platform, a spokeswoman with the company confirmed. In addition to the Movex connector, StreamServe offers a connector for SAP enterprise software, as well as for various other technologies, such as HTTP, TCP/IP, and FTP; serial and parallel ports; PCL, PostScript, and AFP; Notes, Exchange, and MAPI; and SMS and WAP. The starting price for a StreamServe implementation is about $125,000. For more information, visit www.streamserve.com.
This article has been corrected. Movex is now owned by Lawson, not Intentia, and the starting price (not the average price) for StreamServe is $125,000.
