EVault Offers Business Continuity Service to SMBs

EVault, a provider of online backup and recovery solutions for iSeries and other types of servers, unveiled a new business continuity service last week that's aimed at helping prevent small to mid size businesses (SMBs) from suffering an interruption to their businesses in the event of an outage.
EVault says its new SMB services offerings takes a "holistic" approach to business continuity by spanning all relevant aspects of business, including people, processes, the environment, and IT infrastructure. EVault's consultants work with each organization to determine business continuity requirements. The consultants conduct workshops to find critical business functions and supporting IT applications, evaluate current recovery capabilities, and identify gaps.
After developing a recovery strategy or business continuity plan, EVault consultants validate the plans using walk-throughs, scenario exercises, and crisis management and emergency response team exercises. The consultants follow through by ensuring the program is properly maintained and updated as needed.
EVault is offering the new services irrespective of the backup technology used. The company says its consultants are qualified for the job because of their real-world experience with several disasters, including 1992 Los Angeles riots, the first attack on the World Trade Center in 1993, the 1994 Northridge, California, earthquake, the 1998 San Francisco power outage, the 1999 Chicago Board of Trade outage, Y2K, and the 2003 New York power outage.
"Reducing risk is the number one concern of CIOs these days, and to this end, ensuring business uptime through business continuity is a critical initiative," says Phil Gilmour, president and CEO of EVault. "When systems go down, companies of all sizes must deal with an issue far greater than loss of productivity--the inability to access data."
