Evergreen Upgrades iSeries Report Downloader

Published: August 5, 2008

by Alex Woodie

Evergreen Interactive Systems recently launched a new version of iSeries Report Downloader, a Windows application that lets users browse i OS spool files and then convert the data into Excel, PDF, HTML, or plain text.

The iSeries Report Downloader makes it relatively simple for a Windows user to browse and view spool files on the System i server. Users are presented a graphical interface that allows them to select spool files based on the name of an out queue or a user name. Then they select how they want to download and view the report, including: Excel, PDF, HTML, plain text, Word, Outlook, Lotus Notes, Lotus 1-2-3, Lotus WordPro, PC printer, or the PC clipboard.

With version 11, Evergreen has made several changes to the product, including boosting security through the addition of RSA encryption; adding support for OS/400 version 5 security; compatibility with Office 2007 and Windows Vista; and generally improved performance and fault tolerance.

Pricing for iSeries Report Downloader has increased somewhat, and now starts at $495 per PC for a TCP/IP connection and $249 per PC for an old SNA connection. For more information or trial downloads, see www.evergreeninteractive.com.
