Cape Clear Tests New ESB Release

Published: August 7, 2007

by Dan Burger

A preview version of Cape Clear Software's Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) platform version 7.5 is available on a limited basis, with general availability expected in September. The ESB platform was designed so that users can connect any content, services, or software across the Internet using Web services.

The latest release will allow users to access, segment, and share SOA applications or integrations. It also brings support for both SOAP-based and RESTful integration styles; message replay; and support for exposing stored procedures as first-class SOA artifacts.

According to Cape Clear marketing claims, its enterprise service bus is "fully integrated and optimized" for the IBM WebSphere environment, including the WebSphere Studio family of integrated development environments (IDEs), WebSphere Application Server, and WebSphere MQ. The Cape Clear ESB for WebSphere supports the iSeries/System i, DB2, and the Tivoli suite of products for monitoring and management.

Cape Clear officials say the company's ESB should appeal to organizations that realize the benefits of SOA, but are apprehensive of WebSphere on iSeries because of the complexity of building interlinked back-end systems.

More information on the ESB can be found on the Cape Clear products Web site. Also included is an ESB v7.5 tech preview video.
