iSeries encryption experts Patrick Townsend & Associates have teamed up with New Generation Software, experts in iSeries reporting and business intelligence, to deliver safe and secure iSeries reporting, the companies announced recently.
The combination of New Gen's NGS-IQ business intelligence software and Pat Townsend's OS/400-based implementation of the Advanced Encryption Solution (AES), called AES/400, should give customers the confidence to handle sensitive data, without fear of compromising the integrity of that data, or violating one of the many new regulations regarding the handling of data.
"Timely data access is more critical to decision making than ever before, and ease-of-use is at the top of every company's business intelligence software evaluation checklist," says Bill Langston, marketing director for New Gen, based in Sacramento, California. "But, companies cannot ignore the potential damage to their reputation, loss of business, or legal liability that can occur when sensitive or regulated data is insufficiently secured from query users. With NGS-IQ and AES/400, System i customers can meet both challenges."
The junction of business intelligence and encryption can be tricky, says Patrick Townsend, president of the Olympia, Washington, company that bears his name. "Because query and BI tools do not work well with encrypted data, they often experience a loss of the use of critical query applications and business intelligence," he says. "We are very pleased that the architecture of the NGS-IQ product allows for seamless integration with our data security products. IBM System i customers don't have to sacrifice query and BI capability when they deploy strong encryption."
