Sage Software recently launched a new release of its Sage Accpac ERP software, which was formerly called ACCPAC Advantage Series in a previous life with CA. A total of 267 new features made the final cut with Accpac version 5.4, including a new Return Materials Authorization (RMA) module, as well as support for the new dual-core X64 processors running Windows or Linux. The software also supports OS/400.
Sage says the new RMA module will boost customer loyalty, improve cash flow, and better control inventory levels by helping businesses process returns in a timely manner. The software will also allow users to place orders for new products, as well as track and bill repairs. The new software also supports built-in integration with Crystal Reports, and allows users to customize their applications by adding or changing fields.
Beyond RMA, Sage made another 266 enhancements to various parts of the product, including the general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory control, order entry, purchase orders, project and job costing, and payroll modules. Version 5.4 also provides improved customer service and faster invoice processing features, the company says, including the capability to enter an invoice and apply a payment at the same time for on-the-spot settlement of an invoice. Accpac ERP users in the manufacturing and distribution rackets should be pleased with the new capability to keep track of goods in transit using logical versus physical inventory designations.
The new release will also support the new generation of dual-core, 64-bit X86 (X64) processors from AMD and Intel. Support for these processors boosts an already impressive array of choices Sage provides customers, including support for Linux and Windows clients from the same database, support for DB2, DB2/400, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and Pervasive's PSQL databases running across Windows, Linux, or OS/400 hosts.
Sage Accpac ERP 5.4 is available now from Sage business partners. The software comes in three editions, starting at a suggested price of $595. The new RMA module will be available by the end of this year starting at $1,500.
