CommercialWare's OS/400-based merchandise management system for cross-channel retailers, CWDirect, has been certified for compliance with Visa's Cardholder Information Security Program (CISP), the company announced last week.
CommercialWare, which was acquired by Datavantage earlier this year, says users of CWDirect 10.0 can rest assured that the application is handling credit card data securely. That application was awarded the Payment Application Best Practices (PABP) certification of compliance as part of Visa's CISP program.
Visa has been building its CISP program since 2001. In 2004, Visa and MasterCard collaborated on the Payment Card Industry (PCI) security standard, which is largely based on Visa's CISP requirements. Visa continues to manage its CISP program to help vendors like CommercialWare and Datavantage build PCI compliance into their applications.
Jane Cannon, chief operating officer at CommercialWare, says the PABP certification shows her company's commitment to complying with PCI. "This validation brings our customers one step closer to PCI compliance and provides them with piece of mind that we are dedicated to supporting the data integrity and security of their organizations," she says.
