Montgomery Automotive, a family owned business that distributes ACDelco parts in the Washington D.C.-Baltimore, Maryland metropolitan area, has licensed an OS/400-based enterprise software system from Distribution Service Technologies (DST) to accelerate new sales and marketing activities, the Southern California software vendor announced last month.
"After an intensive study of available systems for managing the operations of a multisite WD [warehouse distribution], our management team concluded that the IBM-based DST system is the right choice," says Bryan Manning, a sales manager with Montgomery. "The IBM/DST combination brings proven expertise and technological configurability and reliability to the table."
Montgomery Automotive will implement DST's flagship product, the DSTWare inventory control and warehouse management software, as well as its TurboParts Internet-based parts-ordering and sales system and its Activant electronic catalog system. The company, which is based in Beltsville, Maryland, will use the software to manage its four warehouses in the area.
The Internet connectivity of the DST software was crucial to Montgomery decision. The TurboParts system has been WISE Internet Parts (WIP) certified by ACDelco, and will enable ACDelco customers to check inventory and order parts online anytime from WISE-enabled ACDelco distributors, such as Montgomery.'
