IBM Moves Rational Cafes to New Website

Published: September 7, 2010

by Alex Woodie

IBM last month moved its Rational Café forums to a new website. So, if you're wondering where you'll get your next fix from the collaborative online forums, fret no more: they're now located on IBM's developerWorks website.

Since 2008, the Rational Cafes have served as online meeting places for developers to talk about programming technologies, share tips, ask questions, brainstorm, view videos, and download code. IBM unveiled cafes for many major languages, including EGL, C++, COBOL, and RPG. (Yes, IBM still considers RPG a major programming language!)

In addition to the four main cafes, some of the cafés host off-shoots called "hubs." The RPG Café, for example, hosted hubs for Rational Developer for IBM i (now called Rational Developer for Power Systems Software), Rational Developer for IBM i for SOA, and Rational Team Concert for IBM i.

In August, IBM decided to move the cafes from the www-949.ibm.com domain to the developerWorks website, which sits at www.ibm.com/developerworks.

You can access the cafes from the above-mentioned website by clicking on the Rational Café hyperlink under the Community header near the bottom of the page, or go there directly at this hyperlink: www.ibm.com/developerworks/rational/community/cafe/.
