Original Launches Certification Program for iSeries Testing Tools

Original Software launched a new certification program last week to help organizations separate the wheat from the chaff when it comes to validating the technical skills of people using its automated application testing tools for the iSeries platform. The English software house also announced its first graduate of the program: Robert Stammel, the founder of Valok Global Midrange Software Solutions.
In explaining the reasons for launching the program, Original Software CEO, Colin Armitage, says some developers may talk the talk, but fail to walk the walk when it comes to really knowing testing tools inside and out, which he labels the "mechanic effect."
"Very few people in an organization can make sense of developer-ese, making it difficult to know if potential employees or partners have the expertise they say they do," Armitage says. "With an actual certificate of aptitude from a leading automated testing provider, companies can be at ease about the credentials of those they wish to hire."
Thanks to the new certification program, which includes printed education materials and hands-on automated test training with the TestBench for iSeries suite, those employers can cut through the baloney when it comes to hiring prospective testers.
Customers of the Australian IT services firm Valok GMSS can feel confident they're hiring somebody with verifiable iSeries testing skills as a result of Stammel's certification. "By adding certified representation of our proficiency with automated testing tools from Original Software, we're able to provide extra 'peace of mind' to our customers," Stammel says.
