CPS Taps ACOM for Infor A+ 'Gap' Solutions

Published: September 16, 2008

by Alex Woodie

ACOM Solutions last week announced a new reseller agreement with Commerce Plus Services (CPS) to target users of Infor's Application Plus (A+), an i OS- (i5/OS) based ERP application that's commonly used in the wholesale distribution industry.

CPS was formed to target various functionality gaps in the A+ product line, according to Rick Redden, vice president of operations for the Dallas, Texas, company. The first of these point products was a sales tax solution that CPS sells for about $8,000. Along the way, one of CPS' customers asked about electronic payment software, including hooking into the ACH, or Automated Clearinghouse payment network, and Positive Pay, an automated check matching program.

"Knowing that the Infor distributor-wholesaler package does not offer these as standard modules, we saw a great opportunity," Redden says. "Infor has no Positive Pay and while it accommodated ACH for inbound payments, there was no resource for outbound."

Instead of redesigning the wheel, CPS decided to partner with a software vendor that already offered Positive Pay and ACH solutions on the IBM i midrange platform: ACOM Solutions of Long Beach, California.

As part of the partnership, CPS will resell several ACOM products, including EZPayManager, which offers the core ACH and Positive Pay functionality required by its customers. CPS is also reselling several other ACOM products, including its EZeDocs document management software, and its content management and archiving solution, called EZContentManager.

Jim Scott, a senior V.P. with ACOM, expressed enthusiasm for the new relationship. "Commerce Plus is an ideal partner for us," he says. "They know their market niche intimately and they are solid in the directions they want to take to address it. Like ourselves, they see the AS/400/iSeries/System i/[i-based Power Systems] platform as a great transaction-processing environment that has an open-ended future as users seek to extend the life of their sizeable hardware-software investments."

For more information about CPS or ACOM, visit the companies' Web sites at www.cpsnow.com and www.acom.com, respectively.
