The Tropicana Streamlines Forms Design Changes with EZeDocs/400

Published: September 26, 2006

The IT staff at the Tropicana Resort and Casino in Las Vegas won't be spending so much time running around updating printers with the latest forms anymore. Now that they've installed the EZeDocs/400 offering from ACOM Solutions, they can update the printers from the comfort and security of their iSeries server, the software company announced last week.

Prior to the EZeDocs/400 implementation, changes to front desk registration forms required a considerable amount of footwork at the Tropicana, according to Paula Hancock, programming manager at the Las Vegas landmark.

"Until now, we have had to make necessary changes to the printer-resident Optio forms in the department, load the revised forms into a laptop computer, take it to the front desk, plug in the printer, and load the new data into the printer's flash memory," Hancock says. "Each printer had to be re-flashed, whether for small details like changing a font size or for major form revisions. Printer breakdowns similarly required re-flashing on-site."

All that changed following the implementation of ACOM's software, including the EZeDocs/400 forms generation engine, the EZDesigner/400 PC-resident graphical forms design tool, and e-mail, fax, and PDF conversion modules, which reside on the casino's iSeries Model 520. "Now we do it all remotely, saving a significant amount of time and avoiding interruptions of business at a very busy front desk," Hancock says.

The software is currently only being used with the front desk forms, but that may change in the future, as Hancock is considering using EZeDocs/400 for invoices, personnel forms, and programming request forms. She is also considering other ACOM offerings, including its electronic payment software, called EZPayManager/400.

iBOLT Data Mapper Service

iBOLT's Data Mapper Service lets you create an association between records and fields in different formats and from different sources using a Visual Mapping device. It supports multiple Sources and multiple Destinations.

You can use the Data Mapper to graphically represent the relationship between source data elements and destination data elements. This creates a way of manipulating the data without having to write any lines of code.

You define the source and destination formats in the Data Mapper Service's Source/Destination Management dialog box. The Data Mapper can carry out any of the following actions:
· Create or update files in XML, HTML, or Flat File formats.
· Create, Update, and Delete a set of database records.
· Call a flow and pass arguments.
· Any Source can be mapped to any destination.
